Around 10k for your instrument rating on a twin prop. Although the military will let you get a rating for free!!

if flying for fun is your game then get your Private and get a cessna or piper or if you’ve got money cirrus..

Money is just a small part of it; you must meet the experience requirements required for advanced ratings and be type rated for the specific private jet then hope you can find an insurance company that will insure you to operate it. Most private jets are required to have a crew, pilot and co-pilot. Money still can’t buy experience. If you start today you might have your ratings in about a year and half to two; another two years to build some time in complex aircraft. Then fly with a more experianced pilot for another year and the insurance company may think about it.

It sounds like you have no experience. If so, you first need to get a student pilot certificate, by taking a medical exam from a certified aviation medical examiner. The next step is to get private pilot training. The average number of flight hours for this is probably 60 to 70. How long that takes depends on whether you do it in your spare time or are able to train every day.
There are training facilities that offer fast paced training such as ATP. They offer a private and instument package with 85 hours for $8,995 including housing, that will take 60 days or 4 months at your own pace. Their multi-engine course will run you $2,795. I’m sure if you get creative and go somewhere else you could get it done for less, but perhaps it may take longer.
Getting some practical experience before going to jet training would be recommended to get “seasoned”.
Small two-engine jet training is usually a two week course and is very intense. Typically Flight Safety or Simu-Flite will charge around $10,000 a week.
I have trained in the Citation X and the Falcon 2000, each costing over $30,000 and taking 3 weeks each.
Once type-rated, it will probably be about 500 additional flight hours before you become comfortable enough to be a Captain.
There are a few private jets you can fly by yourself, but with little experience, insurance will be expensive or tough to get.

Flight training is very time consuming. It depends on your availability and where you go on how fast you get done. Some courses will take you in and get you done in 6 months if you want. All it is is flying and sleep basically. As for training you will need to obtain: Private pilot, Instrument rating, Commercial rating and a Multi engine rating. For the first three there is a written test, a oral exam(My private and instrument orals lasted 3 hours each) and a flight test. If you are really wanting a career in aviation you will need to build hours. After you receive those ratings you should have around 250 hours. Most employers will not hire a pilot with less than 1,000 hours. The best way to build that up is get your Certified flight instructor and Certified flight instructor instrument. You get paid to teach people how to fly while building up those hours you need. A Multi engine instructor rating is a good thing to have as well. As any employer will like or will want multi time. Most want at least 100 hours. To find a school try going to It will have schools close to you that offer a 60 dollar discovery flight. I myself almost got sick on my first one but I decided I loved flying to much to let that stop me. I eventually got over that. Make sure you love to fly before you really get to deep into it.
